Driving home for Christmas

Hi there! Just popping in with this a card using the adorable Driving Home for Christmas set by Jane’s Doodles. I fell in love with this set the first time I saw it. I don’t know if it’s the look of joyful determination in that dog’s eyes or if it’s the cute little car with a tree strapped to the top.

Jane's Doodles-Driving Home for Christmas

I stamped the images with Intense Black ink by Simon Says Stamp, which by the way, has become my new favorite ink for Copic coloring. I’ve always used Memento Tuxedo Black ink, but recently I bought a new pad and it’s juts not doing it for me. The Intense Black gives a better, thinner and truer impression. I colored the images with Copics, fussy cut them and popped them up onto Sea Glass cardstock. I used one of the Layered Hills dies to give the Slate cardstock a “road” look and embossed the sentiment in white.

I wish I were driving home to Illinois for Christmas. I’m sure everyone is feeling it this year no matter what your situation is. The only thing I can control is to be thankful for what I DO have and try to be more like this dog. Maybe I’ll put on a rainbow scarf:) Sending you holiday hugs!

Such a cute card with that adorable dog in the driver’s seat. It must be hard being so far away from family & friends for so long. Wishing you a very merry Christmas!

I have this cute set but haven’t used it in a couple of years. I need to get it out again but I’m so lazy about fussy cutting!

What an adorable card! I love the dog’s expression too!
Where I live in Canada, we just went back into lockdown so it is just me and the hubby for Christmas. I haven’t seen my daughter since August and was really looking forward to seeing her. Thank goodness for FaceTime! As the commercial says, “Better an empty seat this year than one every year after”.
    Stay safe and Happy Holidays!

Dear Laura – I like the dog in his car, too. It reminds me of a cartoon somehow. I wish you a Merry Little Christmas. At least you have your own family around you and your daughter from college is there with you, right? The Xmas I spent in France away from my family was tough, but a French friend invited me to stay w/ his family and I got to experience native traditions in a way that I would never have been able to do if I had returned to the US for Xmas. It has made me better able to discuss how the holiday is celebrated as a teacher. Hope it’s merry and bright, however it goes.
