SugarPea Designs 4th Birthday Bash

Hi there! Today I’m excited to join Sugar Pea Designs for their 4th Birthday Bash Blog Hop.
Sugar Pea Designs-Otterly AdorableMy project features the Otterly Adorable stamp set.
Sugar Pea Designs-Otterly AdorableTo begin I die cut three “wave” panels using the Sugar Cut-Card Front Element Builder dies. I blended each panel with distress oxide inks. I flicked water on each panel with a small wet brush. I also smooshed the oxide inks onto an acrylic block and with a wet brush I flicked the color onto each panel.
Sugar Pea Designs-Otterly AdorableI stamped the adorable otter images with Memento ink and colored them with Copics. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and adhere them behind each wave.
Sugar Pea Designs-Otterly AdorableTo celebrate, SugarPea Designs is offering a coupon code: BDAY04 for customers to receive 15% off their entire purchase AND a FREE 4×8 stamp set with any purchase (valid until April 7th 11:59 EST).

GIVEAWAY
SugarPea Designs will be giving away (4) FOUR $40 gift certificates to the SugarPea Designs shop.
Winners will be randomly chosen from all the comments left along each stop of the hop.
Comments will close on April 7th 11:59 PM EST with winners announced on April 8th.

This was a fun article. However, before everyone starts making their own art supplies, it would be good to consider a few things. If you want to match Rembrandt”s sepia colored ink, there is no reason you why can”t do that with the india ink, colored inks and acrylic inks that are on the market already. You can do that without cooking walnuts. Plus, you will wind up with a lot better product than Rembrandt ever imagined. The archival and waterproof qualities of today”s inks are excellent. And if you are trying to hit a particular hue, you have an magnificent number of colors ready, waiting and bottled for you to mix. Making your our watercolors or oils is an even sillier thing. A good number of the basic hues are poisonous. They are particularly dangerous in powder form. The reason why I think this article is good is because it is hitting upon a new subject here at Artist Daily. This article is an introduction to a study and appreciation of the origins of the materials and tools with which we work. A better understanding of the materials used in earlier times can give us a deeper appreciation for the artists of antiquity and their work. Also, this knowledge can offer us a closer identification with the artists and craftsmen of the past. And it can give us a better personal understanding of who we are as “artists. Paul Sullivan

Loved your ink blending and die cutting techniques — the idea to splash the same color ink on the background has a great effect — very adorable card
